Tomorrow, Aug. 1, from 9-11 a.m. at Wells Fargo Bank in Rifle, you can have a short ride around Rifle in the glamorous Miss Piggy! If you have seen Miss Piggy around town and drooled, or if you just love vintage Volkswagens, here’s your chance to be seen in this unique pink form of transportation. Wells Fargo is offering pink lemonade and cookies, and you can also get a keepsake photograph taken with the celebrity figure.Brenda Simonson and her mother, Judy Gordon, provided a delightful theatre performance, “A Royal Mess,” on Monday, July 21, at the New Castle Community Center. The cast of Kids & Co. were aged 6-11, and included Drew Simonson, Amanda Carson, Will Gray, Hunter Harbottle, Bo Burkett, Colter Gavito, McCabe Cox, Rebecca Ketelsleger, Hayley Kinn, Ty Harbottle, Travis Ketelsleger, Hank Gray, Courtney Burkett and Nicole Alsop.All the cast members graciously served refreshments to the families and friends who attended the elegant affair. Way to go, Brenda and Judy!-Officials of the Garfield School District Re-2 are pleased to announce a welcoming reception from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, in the Riverside library for Sue Taylor, newly appointed principal of Riverside School. All parents and citizens are invited to attend and help make the new principal feel at home and a part of our friendly community!-SuperBowl New Castle is sponsoring a fund-raiser on Aug. 6 for two local competitive soccer teams. From 7:30-10 p.m., SuperBowl will donate half of $3/game proceeds to the New Castle Pride, which are the U-12 girls and the U-14 boys soccer teams. The next week is Tyrin Benoit and the Shuckers, a Louisiana zydeco-type band. You can bring coolers, but no glass containers are allowed in Burning Mountain Park.
