New Castle set to approve 2013 budget tonight

Post Independent
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

NEW CASTLE, Colorado – The proposed budget for 2013 for the town of New Castle will be up for final adoption tonight by the town council.

The town expects to bring in slightly more than $2.63 million in general fund revenues, and to spend about $2.8 million out of that fund in the coming year, roughly the same as the town’s expenses for 2012.

Town manager Tom Baker told the Post Independent that, among other recent added expenses, the town council has proposed to spend $100,000 for a pedestrian bridge that will stretch across Interstate 70 and the Colorado River.

The budget also reflects a proposed 2 percent raise for town staff, Baker reported.

The meeting is to start at 6:15 p.m. at Town Hall.
