New Castle tallying goes late into night
New Castle ballots were still being counted as of press time Tuesday.
At 10 p.m. town clerk Lisa Cain said 510 ballots had been verified as valid, out of 1,100 mail-in ballots sent out by the town.
That amounts to a 47 percent turnout, she said.
Mayor Bill Wentzel and former council member Larry Borgard were vying for the mayor’s seat.
Five candidates also vied for three town board seats. They include incumbents Bob Gordon and Pam Bunn and challengers Greg Russi, Karen Wood and Rebecca Bondurant.
