New Castle’s Wentzel is re-elected

New Castle Mayor Bill Wentzel was re-elected Tuesday over challenger Larry Borgard 331-169.

In the race for trustees, voters re-elected incumbent Bob Gordon, who got 356 votes, and elected Karen Wood with 302 votes and Greg Russi with 288 votes.

Incumbents Pam Bunn collected 255 votes and Rebecca Bondurant got 105 votes.

Town clerk Lisa Cain said 510 ballots had been verified as valid, out of 1,100 mail-in ballots sent out by the town.

That amounts to a 47 percent turnout, she said.
