New classified format doesn’t work
Dear Editor,
The help wanted classified ads section in the Post Independent has truly taken a step backward.
Now that the ads are all lumped together under a general “help wanted” category, you are obviously padding your pockets with some extra cash, so that people are forced to pay for a “tag line” (line of type at the top) as well as an extra line of white.
Furthermore, many of your ads have a tagline of “general,” which is basically useless. Unfortunately, you have made this section very hard to read, as now people are forced to wade through all the ads, and can’t go to the specific section they desire.
Since I have a gripe, I will also offer a suggestion. Go back to your former categories: general, medical, office (which should actually be clerical), etc., and within those categories, if people want to put a tag line for clarification, they may do so.
For example, a tagline of “nurse” under the medical section would benefit people looking for nursing positions. Your advertisers will benefit from better response, and in turn you will have happier customers who are getting what they pay for.
Thank you,
Theresa Thompson
