New principal named at St. John Middle School
Daniel Hoey from Paynesville, Minn., has been selected as the new principal for St John Middle School in Battlement Mesa/Parachute. Hoey will replace Bob Korver, who had been serving as principal in an interim capacity.
“We are very pleased that Mr. Hoey has accepted our offer to become the new principal at St. John Middle School. He will be a great asset to our district,” said Dr. Steven McKee, superintendent of Garfield County School District No. 16.
McKee noted that the school district was pleased by the number of qualified applicants who applied for the position. “We had an excellent field of applicants to choose from and it was tough to narrow it down to our top five and then ultimately down to our top choice.”
For the past year Hoey has been the principal at St. Mary Help of Christians School in St. Cloud, Minn. It’s a kindergarten through sixth-grade school with 125 students.
Prior to joining the staff at St Mary’s Hoey taught business, Spanish and technology at junior high and high schools in Grove City, Minn.
A reception for Hoey will be held at 7 p.m. on April 21 at St John Middle School. Parents, students and community members are encouraged to stop by and meet Mr. Hoey and his wife.
