New website outlining grievances against the GJ Chamber launches
“Rein in the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce” Facebook group members unveiled a new website this week, GJChamber.info, which describes area residents’ — and some GJ Chamber members’ — grievances against the local chamber.
The site addresses the GJ Chamber’s expansion in its political involvement and asserts that it has been bad for area businesses. It also asserts that many of the GJ Chamber’s recent actions, and the actions of some of its affiliated personnel, are offensive and divisive to the community.
Pages on the site have titles like “Overbearing Political Involvement,” “Misguided Priorities,” “Bigotry and Intimidation,” “The Brainard Debacle,” and “Chambermades.” Links to published articles and other reference materials are provided to substantiate information on the site.
The group created the site to serve as “one-stop shopping,” where local citizens who don’t have time to follow local news can go to find out more about the growing backlash against the GJ Chamber.

Over 75,000 hikers visited Hanging Lake during this year’s peak season. Via signage, the city hopes to point more of those hikers also in the direction of downtown Glenwood Springs.
