New York comes to Glenwood

The Hotel Colorado is hosting an evening of culture and sophistication on Saturday, Oct. 22.From 4-7 p.m., the sixth annual Culinary Arts, Wine and Brewfest for the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts is adopting an “Autumn in New York” theme, which will transform The Hotel Colorado into Manhattan circa 1930.Fourteen of the valley’s finest restaurants, vintners and microbreweries from across the country will offer an evening of astounding tastes and luscious libations. Stroll the silent auction as you sway to big-band sounds. Call the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts at 945-2414 for reservations. Following the Culinary Arts, Wine and Brewfest, The Hotel Colorado unveils a new private label cigar at a Cigar and Wine Dinner at 7 p.m. Produced by Oliva Cigars, the cigar is a hand-rolled Dominican blend reminiscent of the early 1900s when Teddy Roosevelt and Al Capone enjoyed a smoke in the Hotel Colorado lobby. The cigar band depicts a vintage rendering of the Hotel Colorado with a red background.The menu features oven-roasted duck breast glazed with German apple schnapps, Tandoori rubbed sea scallops, applewood-smoked veal chops and chocolate decadence dessert. The Strolling Scones will provide bluegrass tunes beginning at 7:30 p.m.Availability is limited, and reservations are required. Call Beverley Rude at 945-6511, ext .117.
