Nicholas Alan "Nick" Jones
Nicholas Alan “Nick” Jones of Parachute died Friday, March 21, 2003, in Parachute. He was 12.
He was born Aug. 14, 1990, in Rifle to Timothy and Stephanie Jones.
He grew up in Battlement Mesa, and was a 6th grade student at Bea Underwood Elementary School.
Nick dreamed of becoming a paleontologist and traveling the world. His passions included dinosaurs, reading, football, “Star Wars” and his family.
He is survived by his parents, Timothy and Stephanie Jones of Battlement Mesa; by a sister, Ashley Jones of Battlement Mesa; by grandparents Stephen and Pam LeDonne of Rifle, Charles and Nancy Jones of New Castle, and Dennis McGown of Grand Junction; by aunts and uncles Jeff and Heather McPherson of Grand Junction, Doug and Laura Sikes of Grand Junction, Charles and Kelly Jones of New Castle, and James LeDonne of Rifle; and by many cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at the Assembly of God Church, 550 E. 5th St., in Rifle, with the Rev. Charles Jones, pastor of the First Baptist Church of New Castle, officiating.
Pallbearers will be Clint Gracie, Tony Gould, Scott Hoffmeister, Charles Sabados, Dan Holycross and John Sandquist. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason and Brent Shepherd and James Le Donne.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle.
Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Nicholas Alan Jones at any Alpine Bank.
