No bomb found at Rifle High School

RIFLE ” No bomb was found after a thorough search was conducted at Rifle High School.

Rifle High School was locked-down this afternoon after a reported bomb threat, according to Garfield School District Re-2 director of districtwide services, Theresa Hamilton.

The high school received a call around 12:45 p.m. on the main phone line of a bomb in the building. There are no leads as to who placed the call at this time. Emergency services was notified immediately after the call came in and Rifle Police secured the perimeter of the school a short while later. Students were sheltered “in place,” according to Hamilton.

Emergency services performed a sweep of the entire school and surrounding grounds for any evidence of a bomb or threatening device but found nothing as of 2:18 p.m., according to Hamilton.
