No May election for GRHD board

There will be no election for the Grand River Hospital District Board of Directors this May. There were only three candidates running for three open seats. The board voted to cancel the election at its Feb. 28 meeting.Michael Miller, Bruce D. Mills and Michael J. Mosby will fill the open seats.Mosby was appointed in August, 2005, to complete the term vacated by Bruce Richards, whose term ends this May. This being Mosby’s first election, he may run for two more terms. Miller was elected to his first term and can run twice more. This will be Mills’ third and final term because of term limits.Term limits were extended from two four-year terms to three in the November, 2005, election.Board of Directors positions are unpaid, elected positions charged with overseeing Grand River Hospital District (a special tax district). The Board of Directors meets once a month with occasional special sessions as needed. Board members also may serve on committees that meet outside of regular board meetings.
