Margaret Dunand Cerise

Margaret Dunand Cerise, of Basalt, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005. She was 91.

Margaret was born Nov. 3, 1913, in Aosta, Italy, to Alex and Lorienne Dunand.

She came to America when she was 16 with her mother and older brother to meet her father in Leadville. The family lived in Leadville for a short time before moving to Emma.

Shortly after moving to Emma she lost her father and brother. Margaret and her mother then moved Basalt, where Margaret married Mela Cerise. They lived on a farm near Basalt for many years.

Margaret moved closer to town in 1963, where she remained until her death. She lived in Colorado for approximately 75 years. Many of her family still live in the Basalt area with a few having moved to Oregon.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, and her daughter, Lola Mae.

She is survived by two sons, Reno and Telio, many grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

There will be a Rosary Service from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home Chapel, 405 W. Seventh St. in Glenwood Springs. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Basalt.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Farnum-Holt Funeral Home.
