Barbara A. Brown

April 10, 1940 – January 26, 2014

Barbara, age 73, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, after a five-year battle with cancer. She was the third child of Charles and Rose Brown. She was born April 10, 1940, at Hopkins Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She was raised and lived in Glenwood Springs all of her life.

Following graduation from high school in 1958, she started working for Garfield County. The first part of her career was as secretary to Josephine Busby, Garfield County Superintendent of Schools. After Mrs. Busby reorganized all the school districts into three and Colorado Mountain College became a reality, the office was changed so Barbara’s career continued and the last 30 years was working in the Garfield County Accounting Office, retiring in 1999.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Regina. She is survived by her brother, Charles Brown, and many loving friends. Barbara died loving Jesus, her faith and her Church.

A lifelong Catholic, a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Rosary will start at 1:30 with Mass to follow at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Stephen Catholic School, 1885 Blake Avenue, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.
