Barbara Nell (Kemp) Sunderland (June 20, 1944 — April 16, 2017)

Barbara Nell (Kemp) Sunderland of New Castle, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was born June 20, 1944, in Albuquerque, NM, the oldest daughter of Martha and Walter Kemp.

Life took her across the great expanse of the western United States, until finally settling with her family in New Castle. Barbara served the local community for many years as a Legal Secretary, served on New Castle’s town council, and spent over ten years as the Administrative Assistant for the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department until her retirement.

Barb loved to collect beautiful objects, surround herself with her family and pets for the Holidays, and enjoying good food. She was full of funny family stories and warm, deep hugs.

She is survived by her husband, Gary, their two sons Dennis and Kelly, Kelly’s wife Tiina, and her younger sister’s family, Andrea (Kemp) and Bob Davis.
