Bellard James Garcia

Bellard James Garcia, age 68, of Rifle passed away Oct. 8, 2015. He was born in Montrose, Co, on June 16, 1947.

Bellard was stricken with polio and was never expected to walk. He overcame one obstacle after another. He has received honors from National Rehabilitation Hospital and inducted into the Smithsonian Institute at the Kennedy Center. After college, he became a successful high school teacher and coach. He had the distinct honor of taking the U.S. Wrestling Team to Germany.

Bellard was a warm, welcoming, and generous man who opened his heart and home to countless people over the years.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Garcia; a son Troy Garcia, three additional sons, Joey & Rolando Velasquez, Raul Quintana; niece, Justice Aurelia; a sister, Freda Drinkhouse.

Viewing–Thursday, 10am – 1 pm.

Rosary and Mass–Friday, Starting 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Rifle, CO.
