Bertram J. Alport

Bertram J. Alport spent most of his life in Chicago, Il. He was one of the original radar instructors in the US Navy during WWII. He worked as an electrical engineer for Atlas Electric Devices for 48 years before retiring in the 1970s. He was an active ham radio operator, under the call sign KA9SSB. He and his beloved wife Claire were married for almost 69 years before she passed away in 2009. He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Robert) Ludtke of Glenwood Springs, and Carolyn (Joseph) Spier, Weimar, CA, grandchildren, Steven (Sarah Steuber) Ludtke, Pearland, TX, and Heather (Kevin) Knoedler, Newbury Park, CA, his great-grandchildren, Amanda and Rand Ludtke and Katie and Chris Knoedler, and his brother, Lawrence, of Skokie, IL. He lived his life with grace and kindness, and he will be lovingly remembered by all who had the good fortune to know him.
