Clare Osborne Ashlock

Clare “Manny” Ashlock, 86, of Rifle passed away December 23, 2014, at the Colorado State Veterans Care Center in Rifle, CO. Manny was born on April 25, 1928, in Dillon, Colorado, to Henry Richard and Zelda Clare (Brenton) Ashlock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet. Manny is survived by his sister Lillian (Harold “Chick”) Deming, his sons Jerry (Christine) Ashlock of Colorado Springs and Jesse Ashlock of Denver, his daughter Sanja (Mitch) Morgan of Silt. He had four grandchildren; Adam Ashlock, Meredith Ashlock, Dusti (Morgan) Tornes and Breann (Morgan) Koschel. He enjoyed three great-grandchildren; Whitney Tornes, Alex Tornes and Briley Koschel.

Manny lived in Rifle from 1966 until his death, serving for many years as the self-appointed custodian of Heinze Park, next to his home on Railroad Avenue, and as a proud Rifle City Council member for a time. He retired from the Public Service Company of Colorado (Xcel) as a Line Patrolman. After retirement he enjoyed going to yard sales and collecting items for recycle. He worked for a few years at the Rifle Dump, which fit in well with his passion for collecting.

He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and loved all of his friends and neighbors in Caliente Casa De Sol, near Florence, Arizona.

Dad was always an animal lover and constantly cheered for the underdog.
