Colette Rowland Barksdale (Aug. 7, 1952 — Feb. 23, 2017)

Colette Barksdale passed away peacefully at home in Glenwood Springs, with her family by her side. Born in Denver to Fred and Velma Rowland, Colette married Rod Barksdale on August 25, 1973. Her son, Michael, was born in 1981. Colette graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. She was assistant director of Garfield County Human Services. She retired as director of Lincoln County Human Services in 2015. She is survived by her husband and son; father, Fred Rowland; sister, Terry (Bob) Peckham; four nephews; Robin (Deanna) Peckham, Richard (Kattie) Peckham, Alan McClain, and Greg (Sunny Kay) McClain; 11 grandnieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Rowland, and brother, Fred Rowland. A celebration of Colette’s life will be held this summer in Glenwood Springs. In lieu of flowers, make a contribution to your favorite charity in Colette’s name.
