Dana McBrayer Darien

Dana McBrayer Darien, 63 years of age, of Marble, Colorado, succumbed to a battle with cancer on March 13, 2015.

Dana was born in Denver, Colorado, to Martha and John McBrayer on September 26, 1951. Dana graduated from George Washington High School and received an associate degree from Colorado Mountain College in Photography. She married Larry Darien on October 13, 1979, in the Crystal River Valley, which was her home for the rest of her life.

Dana and Larry started and ran Twin Pines Outfitting from 1981 to 1989. In 1990 the family moved from Marble to Glenwood Springs where she worked a variety of jobs, at CMC, at doctor offices and at Aspen Research Group. In 1998 Dana and Larry started Ute Meadows Inn and Nordic Center, where they made many new friends. She enjoyed taking part in all the Crystal River Valley had to offer, including hiking, picnics with her kids and especially horseback riding. Dana also loved spending time with the Border Terriers she had raised.

Dana is survived by daughter Tori Darien West (Thomas), son Hunter Darien, grandson Tanner West and her beloved husband Larry as well as siblings Diane Delahunty (Brian Andersen), Tom McBrayer (Syd) and John McBrayer (Brenda Langkoff).

A memorial service will be held March 28 at 1 p.m. at the Marble Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rocky Mountain Earth Dog Club.
