Edward L. Feld, Jr.

Edward L. Feld, Jr., (“Ed”), 74, of Carbondale, Colorado, passed away October 16, 2018, of complications from heart congestion.

Ed was born in Iowa to Dr. & Mrs. Edward L. Feld, & grew up in Manchester. Following graduation from West Delaware County High School, he worked as a lifeguard & swimming instructor in Redstone, Colorado, & sailed in the U.S. Marine- Pacific, Caribbean & Alaska waters. Following service with the U.S. Army Security Agency in South Vietnam & then West Germany, Ed attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado.

Ed met his future wife, Barbara, while in Germany where she was enrolled in a college year abroad program. They were married July 16, 1970, in Ouray, Colorado, initially lived in Gunnison, then Sitka, Alaska, & settled in Glenwood Springs where they lived until her death on December 16, 1985. Ed & Barb loved traveling, especially their Pan American Around-the-World tour, visiting the Far East, Australia, New Zealand & Europe.

Ed held several positions in Glenwood Springs & Garfield County, but he most enjoyed his position in Lift Operations with the Aspen Ski Company, where he worked for 20 years. He treasured his friendships with his co-workers, neighbors & lifelong friends.

Ed is survived by his sister, Pam Feld, of Hailey, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents & by his much loved wife, Barbara. He will be buried next to her in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
