Eleanor Leona Vale

Eleanor Leona Vale, of Rifle, passed away April 20, 2014. She was 86. Eleanor was born in Loveland, Colorado, on June 28, 1927, to Conrad and Mary Rothe. Eleanor married Franklin Vale on July 18, 1948, in Loveland. They had two children.

She was a very devout Christian woman. She was baptized Aug. 7, 1927, and confirmed March 29, 1942. Recently, Eleanor joined the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and received her first communion as a member just two weeks ago. She had a very vibrant personality and was never afraid to say what was on her mind.

Eleanor was affectionately known as “Dede” to many, especially her grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she enjoyed playing with them and seeing her family smile.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; a granddaughter, Ashley Vale; brothers, George Kline, Leonard Rothe and Ernest Rothe, and her parents. She is survived by her children, Jerry Vale, and Terry Ann Wittwer (Leslie); brothers, Leroy (Lois) Rothe, Alexander Rothe, and Adolph (Margaret) Rothe; a sister, Marie Berghendahl, and grandchildren, Kari (Rob) Bercher, Brandi (Bub) Donelson, Ginger and Brittany Vale. Dede is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brock, Aubrie, Gage, Jade, Kailey, Preston, Ashton and Logan.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 652 East 5th St., in Rifle. Burial will take place at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.
