Ethel Christner

Ethel Christner, 87, of Carbondale, CO, passed from this life on Sunday, January 4, 2015. Ethel was born in Benkelman, NE, on April 29, 1927, to Thomas Miles Jones and Gertrude Conor Jones. She was the 4th of 6 children and is survived by her sister Mildred Glasco of Bird City, KS, Elizabeth Parman and Thomas Jones, both of Benkelman, NE. She married Dean Lowell Christner on April 6, 1947, and they resided on a farm outside of Hamlet, NE.

Mrs. Christner has been a resident of Carbondale for the past 39 years where she and her husband and daughter Nola purchased and ran the Crystal River Liquor and Laundry.

She is survived by her three children, Douglas Christner of Glenwood Springs, Linda Brittain of Lakewood, CO, and Nola Weber of Carbondale, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Reverend Brad Walston will lead a memorial service at the Carbondale Community United Methodist Church, 385 S. 2nd Street, Carbondale, CO, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015. There will be a remembrance in the basement of the church after the service.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Home Care & Hospice of the Valley, 1901 Grand Ave. #206, Glenwood Springs, Co, 81601.
