Frank James ‘Jim’ Stoneman Jr.

Frank James “Jim” Stoneman Jr., of Rifle, passed away on May 10, 2014. Jim was born to Frank James Stoneman Sr. and Neva Fisher in Meeker, Colorado, on May 21, 1930.

Jim Stoneman married Nellie Johnson on May 20, 1951, and had two children, Judy and Jimmy. On Dec. 13, 1992, he married Dorothy Mayberry Stroud.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie, his father, mother, brothers Carl and Glenn. Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Rifle; his sister Barbara Carson of Alaska; his daughter Judy Martens (Lee) and son Jimmy Stoneman; grandchildren: Jim Martens (Stephanie), Ann Gallivan (John); and great-grandchildren: Adelaide Martens, Macy Martens, Bryn Gallivan and Corbin Gallivan.

Jim was a water well driller for his entire life and drilled wells all over the Western Slope of Colorado and Wyoming.

Jim was very active in the Rifle Elks Lodge, Boy Scout Troop 223 and the Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling.

Jim will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at the Elks Club in Rifle, Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 10 a.m.

Farnum Holt Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
