Hazel Yelton

Hazel Yelton, 86, of Rife, passed away March 10, 2015 at E. Dene Moore Care Center of Rifle, with her daughters and best friend by her bedside. Hazel was born March 6, 1929 in Bakerville, North Carolina to Edward and Elizabeth Buchanan. Hazel was an employee with the Aspen Ski Company for over 20 years, learning to ski at the age of 58. She is survived by her sons, Donald (Dorothy) Buchanan of Greenville, SC, and Edwin Curtis Yelton of Basalt, Colorado; Daughters, Jewel (Donald) Hultquist of New Castle, Colorado, Georgia (Boyd) Hooper of Rifle, Colorado, Tracy Yelton of Basalt, Colorado and Samantha (Jeff) Harrison of Rifle, Colorado; Brother, Charles (Linda) Buchanan of Helper, Utah; Nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Edwin Luther, her parents, sister and brother. Hazel was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for 48 years. Services to be held at Rifle Funeral Home, 1400 Access Road, Rifle on Monday March 16, at 11 a.m. Hazel was an avid animal lover, so in lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter in her memory.
