Henry Dwight Spaulding

Henry (Hank) Spaulding of Carbondale passed away after a brave, unrelenting battle with cancer Wednesday morning, September 30, 2015. Hank graduated from Carbondale Union High School and apart from a few years in Palisade and Frisco he was a lifelong resident of Carbondale.

Hank worked hard at whatever he did, including carpentry, coal mining, plowing Vail Pass, baking and ranching. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his last hours he told his family, “I had everything I ever wanted.” He lived a happy and full life.

He leaves behind his wife, Jane, of 58 years; sisters Allene Holgate and Betty Dismant; son Henry (Hank) Spaulding Jr. of Carbondale, daughter Darlene Weatherly of Skull Valley, AZ, and daughter Kris Hyrup of Basalt; five grandkids: Luke Spaulding, Jake Spaulding, Kate Reed, Sarah Stansauk and Tyler Weatherly; and six great-grandchildren Kenzie, Colt, Alleigh, Braddock, Jaxson and Conner.

Hank’s memorial service will be held at the Orchard Church on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Legion Post 11 at 97 N. Third Street #100, Carbondale CO 81623 or the Carbondale and Rural Fire Department.
