Jeff Pierce

On Friday, June 5, 2015, we lost an amazing father, husband, and friend, Jeff Pierce to an unexpected heart attack at his home. He was 46 years old.

Born January 30, 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas, Jeff grew up wild and adventurous with his best friend, Steve. He met Lisa, his soul mate, conscience, and love of his life at a summer camp in Michigan where they were both counselors and Jeff always said it was love at first sight. Jeff served six years in the Army and used the GI Bill to attend Central Michigan University where he earned degrees in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He later became certified as a Special Education and classroom teacher. Jeff married Lisa on October 14, 1989, in Carson City, Michigan and they just celebrated their 25th anniversary. Their life together was filled with adventure, laughter and passion. They traveled to the Bahamas, worked and skied in Steamboat Springs, boated on Lake Texoma, scuba-dived around the Florida Keys, and hiked the Grand Canyon before they built their kingdom above Harvey Gap. Life truly began when their daughter, Emma, was born in 2004 and Jeff fell in love all over again! For the past 17 years, Jeff found his passion in teaching children at many schools in our valley. He touched the lives of hundreds of students through his quirky, loud, and animated style of teaching. His school friends became his family and joined him in celebrating life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 10 am at Coal Ridge High School with a celebration following at the Pierce’s home. In honor of Jeff’s obsession with grammar, please send contributions to the Jeff Pierce Memorial Literacy Tutoring Fund ”Phedge Fund” at Wells Fargo Bank in Rifle, CO.
