Joan Lee (Burger) Baldwin passed away on May 29, 2015 after a long battle withAlzheimer’s. She was born on April 14, 1934 in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, an area that she loved. After high school, one of her proudest moments was being crowned Strawberry Queen in 1953. She eventually married and moved to Denver, where she raised four children. While raising her family, she started a job with Arapahoe County Social Services Department, then the Jefferson County Social Services Department, and eventually moved to the Colorado State Department of Social Services, where she worked for over 30 years. When she retired she moved back to Glenwood Springs and started a business. She eventually moved back to Denver, and then to Arizona. Joan had many, many friends and never met a stranger. She is survived by her brothers; James (Nola) Burger and Robert (Dorothy) Burger, her four children; Karen (Steve) Seeber, Elizabeth (Roger) Reader, David (Kathleen) Burks, Lawrence (Anne) Burks, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, also her husband of 15 years, Fidel Martinez, stepdaughter Claudia (Hector) Saez, 2 step grandchildren . Services will be held July 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Parish, 7240 W. 12th Ave, Lakewood, Colorado 80214 with a reception following.
