Krista Konyot Kashnig (June 15, 1974 – February 13, 2017)

Krista Konyot Kashnig was born in Saint Cloud, MN, on June 15, 1974, and passed away at her home in New Castle, CO, on February 13, 2017, after an illness related to her long and courageous battle with the diseases of anxiety and addiction.

Krista was a wonderful soul with boundless love for her family and her incredibly wide circle of friends. She was a uniquely special person who had an almost magical ability to connect with — and have an impact on — virtually everyone she met.

Her life was filled with acts of kindness, and she was the definition of what it means to be selfless.

Krista is survived by her husband Billy Kashnig and his daughter Geneve, mother Diane Ferche McGonagle, step-father Bob McGonagle, sister Rochelle Konyot (Jeff Lenihan), grandmama Jeanette Ferche; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family members. She also leaves behind her sweet “doberwoman,” Tilly.

She was preceded in death by her poppa, Theodore Konyot, her grandparents, most recently grandpapa and lil Rose, mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law.

Krista grew up in Saint Cloud and Sartell, MN, graduating in 1992 from Sartell High School, where she finished in the top ten in her class, was an accomplished athlete and homecoming queen.

After attending the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN, she moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she began her career in retail management. An inspirational visit to Colorado led to a move to Aspen, where she continued her career and built numerous valuable friendships.

She met Billy and they married in the fall of 2009, moving shortly thereafter to New Castle.

One of Krista’s greatest gifts and a significant part of her legacy was her ability to build meaningful and deep friendships with people among all ages, backgrounds and cultures. She was a deep thinker, profound speaker, gifted writer and talented artist whose forte was creating beautiful cards for her family and friends.

Krista had hobbies and interests too numerous to list in full, but she particularly enjoyed reading, traveling and, of course, walking her beloved Tilly.

We will miss our beautiful and loving Krista. She will always have a special place in our hearts and the hearts of so many.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm as well as a visitation Saturday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am and Service will be held starting at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 219 2nd Street North Sartell, MN 56377, followed by a luncheon. Services and burial in Colorado will be planned for a later date.

Memoriams can be sent in her name in lieu of flowers to Anxiety and Depression Organization of America or ADAA.com, emilyprogramfoundation.org, or the Friends of the Aspen Animal Shelter at dogsaspen.com or call 970-544-9247.
