Marjorie J. Yorko (Oct. 15, 1926 — June 3, 2017)

Marjorie Yorko, age 90, died on June 3, 2017, in the E Dene Moore Care Center in Rifle, CO. She is survived by her nephew, David Petechuk, and his wife, Marie Thompson; her niece, Kathi Rozzi; her former sister-in-law, Dolly Ashley; Marie’s sons, Darren and Aaron Lasko, their wives, Kim and Christie, respectively, and their children, Mia, Katie, Jessie, Abby, and Libby; and Evie and Rosie, respectively. Marjorie also would have liked us to acknowledge her special friend, Penny Goodwill, who came into her life nine months ago and showered her with love. She and her family especially thank and acknowledge the entire staff at E Dene Moore, who provided remarkable care, kindness, compassion, and love throughout her stay there.
Marge was born in southwestern Pennsylvania and grew up with her older sister, Kathleen (Kay), and younger brother, Thomas (Tuck) in a difficult household in a small coalmining town, Mather, PA. She and Kay were on their own after the eighth grade when they were sent to Pittsburgh to work. They lived their entire lives together except for a brief period during World War II, when Marge went to work in a factory in Chicago to support the war effort while Tuck served in the U.S. Navy. Marge was extremely strong, tough, independent, combative, funny, loving, kind, generous, and an amazing cook. A special thanks to Patty Breslin for the “Marge the Riveter” photo, which says it all. We all love you dearly, Aunt Marge.
