Martha Daisy (Phillips) Kemp

May 29, 1924 – January 11, 2014

Martha Kemp of Rifle, Colorado, passed away following a brief illness.

Martha was born in Colmor, New Mexico, and married her longtime love Walter Kemp in 1943. Walt and Martha lived in New Castle, where Martha cooked and served the town’s children school lunches for many years.

Martha was a longtime member of the IOOF Rebecca’s, New Castle Women’s Club, and volunteered for many years with LIFT-UP.

She enjoyed monthly dances at the Canyon Creek school house, monthly town potlucks, the outdoors, and loving her family.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Gary) Sunderland of New Castle, daughter Andrea (Bob) Davis of Grand Junction, and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held at the VA Nursing Home in Rifle on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 2:15 pm.
