Miguel Herrera Perez

January 17, 1923 – November 17, 2013

Miguel Herrera Perez, 90, passed away November 17, 2013. Miguel was born January 17, 1923, in Durango, Mexico, to Ceferino and Maria Herrera. Miguel was a loving father, husband and grandfather. He worked his whole life on his farm; he loved his land and his horse. Always told us his story about the time he worked in Reno, Nevada, on the railroad. He had fond stories of Reno and he would tell us that story every time we asked him and his eyes would just light up. He also loved to go to church on Sundays with his daughter Estela. Miguel also enjoyed playing cards; he was very good poker player. Miguel’s favorite hobby was food; he loved to eat. Special thanks to all of the tremendous support from Grace Healthcare and Valley View Hospital. Miguel is survived by sons Valente, Saul and Ceferino Herrera, daughters Estela Lopez, Elia Herrera, Esperanza Alvaraz, and Rafala Herrera, sister Eva Perez, 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. There will be a Rosary/Viewing Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from 4:00-8:00pm at the Farnum Holt Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood Springs.
