Molly Bradshaw Adams
Margaret Alice Bradshaw Adams was born in 1936 in Colorado Springs, CO., and died June 23 in Ithaca, NY.
She was the oldest child of Aaron Bradshaw, employed by the US Forestry Service, and Barbara Finn Bradshaw, a registered nurse. She attended Colorado College on scholarship, and, despite a bout with polio in her freshman year, graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She continued her studies in English language and literature at Columbia University, where she earned a Master’s degree, and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC she met fellow graduate student Barry Adams, and they were married in 1962. When Barry completed his Ph.D., they moved to Ithaca so that he could begin his career in the Cornell English Department.
She will be remembered as a champion for the poor, sick and elderly, and as someone who thought every day about what she could do to improve the lives of those around her.
Molly is survived by her husband Barry B. Adams; two daughters, grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis Rounds of Bozeman, MT; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her younger brother Bob Bradshaw.
