Norma R. Smith

Norma R. Smith of North Las Vegas passed away Monday, July 29th, after a valiant battle with leukemia. She was known by many as “Aunt Norma or Mom.” She loved people and was easy to love. She was born in Cripple Creek, Colorado, January 1st, 1932, to Joseph Lloyd and Nellie J. Mullen.

Norma married the love of her life, Arthur J. Smith (Smitty) on February 10, 1948, and spent the first 34 years of her life in the Cripple Creek area. During the next 18 years she spent her time being a housewife and mother and excelled at both. Her home was always open to kids and friends of the family. In 1966 they moved to the Basalt area where they lived for the next 32 years. In 1998 they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, and then to Las Vegas in late 2012.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Leo Stanke and brother-in-laws Norman Berry and Bill Sellers. She is survived by her sons Harold (Marcia) Smith of Las Vegas, son Gary of Vancouver, Washington, and special son Rick (Dionne) Habbegger of Indianapolis, Indiana, sisters Mary Sellers, Grace Berry, and Sparkie (Ed) Beck. Grandchildren Lauri Smith, Tami Habig, Michelle Fields, Mike and Matt Smith and her great-grandchildren KJ, Kaeden, and Kamden Habig, Caden and Emma Fields, and Allie Smith. She is also survived by many, many close friends.
