Lauren Hendee Cage passed away on Nov. 5, 2024. She was 41. Lauren was a sweet, caring, smart and a very talented musician. She was born 11-01-1983 in Grand Junction to Bob & Donna Hendee (Holt).
At the age of 5 years old she relocated with her family to Glenwood Springs, Co. She attended all her school years in Glenwood and graduated in 2002 from Glenwood Springs high school. While in school she was always very active in choir and musical theatre as well as the local musical theatre. All her Glenwood friends knew her by her nickname “Wodie”.
After graduation she attended UNC in Greeley, Co. and graduated in 2006 with a degree in music education. She continued to remain active in choir and musical theatre.
Lauren taught elementary music in the Denver area for 9 years. while in Denver she sang with the Colorado Symphony Chorus and the Greeley Choral.
In 2014 she married Calvin Cage. They remained in Denver till 2016 and then moved to Grand Junction where Lauren then taught music at Mesa View Elementary.
Lauren also became very active and involved in the local VFW Post where Calvin was a member after being in the Air Force for 6 years. She was at one time president of the VFW auxiliary. She loved and supported “her” veterans and was loved by everyone.
Lauren is survived by her husband Calvin and stepson CJ. Parents: Donna & Bob Hendee. Sisters: Jessica (Phil) Pich of New Castle, Tracy (Rob) Courtney of Grand Jct., Kelly (Jay) Dombrowski of Elgin, Ill. Brother: Scott (Mandy) Hendee of Milliken, Co.
Local nieces & nephews: Alexus, Trinity, Danelle, Oaklynn, Finley, Elliot.
Lauren was preceded in death by her brother Dennis and Sister Dana.
A celebration of life was held at the VFW on Friday 11-8-2024.
A scholarship memorial fund has been set up with the Mesa county elementary school music program to assist sending several elementary students a year to a music camp.
