Obituary: Neva Marie Chuc

  

February 6, 1919- April 1, 2013

Neva Marie Chuc was born on February 6, 1919 in Canyon Creek, Colorado to her parents Roger and Elsie Smith. She passed peacefully into heaven on April 1, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Neva was raised in Marble and spent time in Glenwood Springs. Neva attended the one room school house in Marble with her sister, Nettie. After finishing school in Glenwood, she enjoyed working at the local Safeway grocery store.

On February 6, 1944, Neva married Leonis Chuc. Neva and Leonis settled on their ranch near Carbondale where they raised cattle, chickens, pigs, hay, potatoes and grain. They were blessed with three daughters, Sandra, Joan and Deborah. Neva embraced the farming and ranching life and lived to the fullest every day. Neva and Leonis loved sifting on their covered patio and enjoying the view of Mt. Sopris. They were married sixty-four years before his passing in 2008.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister and one great grandchild. Surviving Neva are her three daughters, Sandra (LeRoy) McCabe, Joan (Harve) Telinde, and Deborah Chuc. Also surviving her are eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Rosary will be said at 9:15 a.m. with the Funeral Mass following.
