It is with great sorrow that we are experiencing the loss of our beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, leaving us all heartbroken. Travis Lynn Morgan passed away, into the arms of the Lord on 2/19/2025 in Denver, Colorado, after a lengthy illness. Though he is gone from this earthly life, he will be forever in our hearts. Life will never be the same without him and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Travis was born on 6/24/1974 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Theodore (Ted) and Cheryl Morgan. He grew up a cowboy in Rifle, Colorado where he developed a love for the outdoors. Family time was spent mostly outdoors, hunting, hiking, camping, fishing, riding horses, skiing, and snowmobiling. He was very athletic and participated in sports throughout his life; soccer, football, baseball, softball, golf, volleyball, and scuba-diving. He was an excellent swimmer and spent summers being a lifeguard and teaching swimming lessons at the local pool in Rifle. He also enjoyed time indoors with family and friends playing cards, board games, and playing Cribbage. He enjoyed concerts, loved music and was a great dancer. He also enjoyed air shows with an intense interest in any and all aircraft, especially helicopters. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends, always up for a backyard BBQ. Travis was very witty and had a lot of “Travis-isms” that made everyone laugh.
Travis attended Rifle schools, graduating from Rifle High School in 1992. From there, he attended CNCC in Rangely, Colorado, specializing in Airframe and Powerplant, furthering his interest in aircrafts.
When he was old enough, Travis joined his father in becoming a volunteer firefighter with the Rifle Volunteer Fire Department. He liked his experiences there, helping people. When he was in college, he also joined the Rangely District Fire Department. Altogether, he spent a total of 10 years as a firefighter.
Following college, being a “techy guy”, he began his career in the communication industry, retiring from Century Link in 2019 after 20 years.
On July 5, 2004, Travis became a father, welcoming daughter Annalise into his life. His love for her was beyond measure and he enjoyed watching her grow up to become a wonderful person. He was very proud of her and all of her accomplishments.
Travis was a loving, friendly, funny guy. When he was in Steamboat Springs, he met the love of his life, Britt Swanson. They were married on June 10, 2017. Later they moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, then on to Cheyenne, Wyoming. They built a lovely home and were living there at the time of his death, with their beloved dog, Kona. Travis and Britt loved to travel and explore new places, especially warm tropical countries.
Family members who have preceded him in death and are waiting for him in Heaven include Grandparents Troy and Nelda Morgan, Bill and Gladys Murray. Uncle Lee and Aunt Wilma Morgan, Aunt Georgia Rae Liggett, Uncle Robert Adams, cousins Mark and Judy, great uncles, great aunts, other cousins.
He is survived by his wife Britt Morgan, Cheyenne, WY; daughter Annalise Richardson, Charlotte, NC; parents Ted and Cheryl Morgan, Rifle, CO; sister Kristi (Dean, nieces Avery and Catelyn) Franks, Tampa, FL; in-laws Dan & Jan Swanson, Windsor, CO (and extended Swanson family); cousins Matt Morgan, Mike Morgan, Michelle Zwickl, Jerry Liggett, Carrie Harris, Jaylene Liggett, Susan Adams, Judy Adams Valencia, Tammy Adams Alter, Jim Adams, John Adams, other relatives and many long-time friends and friends made along the way.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Colorado River Fire Rescue, 1850 Railroad Avenue, in Rifle, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colorado River Fire Rescue in honor of Travis Morgan.
