Richard Joseph Klamper

Richard Joseph Klamper, 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, July 18, 2014, at his home in Basalt, CO, after losing his battle with a brain tumor.

His death, while far too soon, comes only after an extraordinary amount of life lived. As a world traveler, adventure seeker, and man of selfless compassion, Richard leaves behind a legacy of joy and laughter that will allow his memory to live on for generations to come.

Richard was born in Lewiston, ID, to Edward and Bessie Klamper. He graduated from the University of Idaho before serving his country in the U.S. Army. He established a successful career as a real estate appraiser and land developer in Colorado.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Cil; his three children, Collin, Eric and Erin; his grandchildren, Eva and John; and by the unknown amount of lives that his acquaintance was able to better.

A celebration of Richard’s admirable life will be held on August 11th at 1:30 at The Orchard (110 Snowmass Drive in Carbondale, CO). His family requests that those who attend provide written stories, memories and photos of Richard in order to help properly tell the many tales of his life to his future family. In lieu of flowers, please adopt a pet, go for a hike, pick up a hitchhiker or make a new friend in honor of the memory of Richard’s lifestyle.
