Robert Jakob Ziegler “Bob”

Bob died peacefully at 81 years. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Jakob and Monika Ziegler, German Immigrants, and as a toddler returned to Bavaria, Germany, where he lived his childhood. At 18 they returned to the United States and settled in New York. In 1957 he married his childhood sweetheart Christa Siano. He started “Ziegler Painting & Wallpapering” and was a honest & well respected businessman. After a few visits to Aspen he moved his family from N.Y. to Aspen and built a new home. He worked a few seasons as a Ski Patrol and lift operator for Aspen Ski Corp. on Buttermilk/Tiehack. In 1990 they made Glenwood Springs home. They became Snowbirds at that time and spent winters in Arizona and Florida. Happy at home or on the road they traveled to many countries and in their RV crossed the U.S. with their dog Petey.
His big smile and huge heart are 2 of many things about Bob that will be terribly missed. He leaves his loving wife Christa, of 59 years. Loving daughter Christina (Kevin), son John (MaryEllen), loving daughter-in-law Lenora. Grandchildren, Stephan, Robert & Drew Matson, Johnny, Kimberly and great-granddaughter Keira Ziegler.
A service for Bob will be announced at a later date. In his memory please make a donation to the USO.
