Roma Jean Engelmann

Roma Jean Engelmann, 91, left us on August 10th, 2014… surrounded by her family on a beautiful, warm Sunday morning that she would have loved.

Roma grew up in Loveland, Ohio, and attended Bowling Green State University. She later earned her master’s degree in education from SUNY New Paltz. She married her husband, Bill, an electrical engineer, and moved to Long Island, NY, where they raised their two children. They later moved to upstate New York to live on their Christmas tree farm and to be closer to family and friends. When she was widowed, she came to the Roaring Fork valley to spend winters and returned to New York for the summers. She moved to Glenwood Springs permanently in 2001.

Roma was a kind and gentle person who enjoyed reading, traveling, doing volunteer work at Valley View Hospital, sitting on her back porch, and spending time with her family and her four-legged “grandchildren.” She was a warm and loving mother, as well as a dear friend. She always contributed what she could to causes involving the welfare of children and animals. She attended church at Calvary Chapel in Glenwood. She is survived by her son, William Engelmann, Jr. and daughter, Mary (Andy) Wood. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Engelmann, Sr. and her brother, William Brown of Ohio.

Anyone who would like to meet with us in remembrance of Roma, please join us at Calvary Chapel on Thursday, August 21st, at 4:00 PM. No flowers are necessary and casual attire is encouraged.
