Sarah R. Cuccia

Sarah R. Cuccia, a longtime local, succumbed in her valiant battle against cancer.

Sarah died peacefully with her life partner of 23 years, Martin, by her side. She was preceded in death by one son, Vince, and is survived by three sons, Bob, Ray and Vic, and 7 grandchildren.

Longtime locals will remember Sarah dispensing good cheer and advice from behind the Two Rivers Bar in Basalt for over a quarter century. She was generous and well-liked by all who knew her. Sarah was a tough old girl who didn’t complain about the coming end of life. No, she spit death in the eye, and a scant two weeks before her passing she was at the Legion playing poker, just like she played the game of life.

Sarah was the big winner in her last poker game just like she was a winner in life. She will be sorely missed. Thanks go out to the staff of the cancer center at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs. She loved you all, God Bless.
