Thomas H. Decker

Thomas H. Decker, 55, died Jan. 31, 2014, at home with his loving wife beside him.

Tom was born in Waukegan, IL, to Russell and Violet Decker. He moved to Basalt, CO, before settling in New Castle, CO. He spent the last year of his life in Grand Junction, CO, with his wife and grandson.

Tom met his wife, Kathi, while responding to a call with Burning Mountains Fire Protection District. They were married in Glenwood Springs, CO, in 2002.

Tom loved the road and spent most of his career in the entertainment industry as a truck driver. Though Tom never boasted about the stars he worked for, he would take great pride in sharing the workings of the industry. Tom also enjoyed the time he spent as a volunteer with the Burning Mountains Fire Protection District. But most of all, Tom loved his family and spent as much time with them as his job would allow.

Tom is survived by his wife and love of his life, Kathi Decker, sons Justin Decker of Grand Junction, CO, and Michael Decker of Englewood, CO, his grandson Gavin “Cooter” Decker who has lived with him for the past 3 years, brothers Russell Decker of Carbondale, CO, and Tim (Amy) Decker of Milwaukee, WI, sister Terry Decker of Glenwood Springs, CO, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Decker, mother Violet Decker and sister Mary Jo Bailey.

Tom will be truly missed by all of his family, friends, co-workers and all that knew him. A memorial service will be held at Martin Mortuary Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. in Grand Junction, CO.
