Virgil moved from Wisconsin 17 years ago to build his dream home in Marble. Virgil enlisted in the US Marines January 5, 1942; he was a member of Carlson’s Raiders. He received two purple hearts from campaigns in the Pacific, including Iwo Jima. He was honorably discharged November 7, 1945. Virgil is survived by his wife Joyce Leeman, stepson Greg Lindberg, daughter Robyn Schmidt, sister-in-law Mary Leeman, many nieces and nephews, one grandchild, and several great-grandchildren. | PostIndependent.com
