William Haines Bigum

William Haines Bigum, age 92, died at the Balfour Retirement Community, Louisville, Colorado, May 30, 2014. The cause of death was Parkinson’s Disease.

Born Nov. 2, 1921, in Ramona, Oklahoma, Haines lived in Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction, Colorado and worked with the Independent Lumber Company until retiring in 1984. Haines was a Navy officer from 1942 – 1946 and received a naval commendation for aeronautical work on aircraft turrets. After retiring from the lumber business, Haines spent time enjoying designing and building airplanes (radio controlled), reading, swimming competitively and fishing trips with his two brothers.

Survivors include two sons, William (Bill) and his wife, Carla, of Louisville, Colorado, and Robert (Bob) Bigum and his wife, Geri, of Denver, Colorado as well as three grandchildren, one step-grandchild, one great-grandchild and seven step-grandchildren. Haines was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia L. Bigum, and two brothers, Clark Bigum and Hugh Bunn Bigum.

Services were held June 7, 2014, at St Ambrose Episcopal Church, Boulder, Colorado.
