Ode to Kit E. Goddard

Post Independent
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

This man was educated, handsome, rugged, talented and strong. Sensitive, kind and passionate to all walks of life.

His skills were most incredible in how he touched so many with his hardy laugh and genuine smile.

He would lift you when you were down, he would not judge or be judged. He believed in the unbelievable. There was always something to be finished and never enough time. He was as solid as they come and he agreed to disagree and realized that was fine. Simple to the core but very complex.

When you would call his cell phone for whatever reason or season you would hear the lasting words, “Hey there, this is Kit, I will get back with you,” and he did.

Depending on what number you had ‘John Wayne’ would play “Hey there pilgrim, just because this is an answering machine doesn’t give you the right to hang up.” “You know I can shoot the wings of a fly in mid-air.” “I can” Listen and Listen Tight, Leave a message after the tone and I will get back to you.” Most 100 percent of the time he did.

He was shy and proud all at the same time, he knows he left us in sorrow, but encourages us to continue. Laughing and remembering in his memory. There is a reason, there is a season, there is a lifetime.

From his loving fiancee Stephanie A. Perrin, I love you more than life itself.

Memorial for Kit to come at a later date, 2010.
