RIFLE ” The Schumann Singers present the spring concert “Of Land, Sea and Spirit” Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Founded in 1983 by Merritt Schumann, the Schumann Singers present two concerts of sacred and classical music annually in the spring and fall, and a Christmas concert in December. The members of the group live throughout the length of the Grand Valley, from New Castle in the east to Fruita in the west. A wide age range is also represented in the singers, from college students to retirees in their 70s, with many working young and middle-aged adults in between.

James Werner directs and conducts the Schumann Singers. Werner enjoyed a 30-year career as a lead performer in theater, opera and symphony orchestra concerts that took him all over the world before moving to the Grand Valley in 1997.

Pianist Judy Dvorak Ronzio will accompany the Schumann Singers. Ronzio began her extensive performing career as a soloist with a symphony in the Denver area at the age of 12.
