One dies in single-vehicle rollover

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. ” One person died and two others were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Friday morning on Gypsum Creek Road in Eagle County.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. and the CSP was notified of the accident at 5:24 a.m.

Upon arrival, emergency services personnel discovered a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado on its right side on the north side of the roadway. The truck was occupied by three males. One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Eagle County Coroner and the driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs. The second passenger sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene.

None of the occupants was wearing a seat belt and speed and alcohol are considered possible factors in the crash that remains under investigation.

Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling south near milepost 14 when it went off the left edge of the roadway and rolled 1 1/4 times and ejected the front passenger.

Names are being withheld until family members can be notified.
