Opal N. Willey

Opal N. Willey, 85, passed away Dec. 13, 2005, in Rifle.Opal was born in Grant County, Kan., to John W. and Josephine (Wilson) Scrogum. Opal married Olen Fred Willey in 1951 in Denver. She was a resident of Rifle for 40 years. Opal is survived by children Lewis W. Carpenter of Wichita, Kan., Marjorie L. Carpenter Alspaugh of Parsons, Kan., Norean L. Carpenter Johnson of Harrison, Ark., Roy C. Bundy, of Tulsa, Okla., and Edgar L. Carpenter of Bonanza, Colo., all from a previous marriage. Verna L. Willey Mullet, of Fort Lupton, Ramona L. Willey Klein, of Meeker, Ronald M. Willey, of Meeker, and Bernerd R. Willey, of Rifle; brother John Scrogum, of Tehachapi, Calif., and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Olen F. Willey; and her sisters, Faye Scrogum Davis, Denie Scrogum Findlay and Lena Scrogum Davis.Opal requested no funeral services to be held at this time. A memorial service will be held by the family at 2 p.m. May 28, 2006, at 30414 Highway 6&24, Rifle. Anyone wishing to pay their respects may attend this service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either Roaring Fork Hospice, P.O.Box 1970 Glenwood Springs, CO 81602; or Alpine Home Health, 1316 Grand Ave. Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. Farnum-Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
