Operation Vacation organizer being honored in October

In October, NBC affiliate 9News in Denver is honoring Operation Vacation organizer Bob Johnson (no relation to the visiting family) with the 9Who Care Award. The station will be filming Johnson ” as well as Army Sgt. Clark Johnson and his family’s stay in Glenwood ” this weekend at various attractions.

Bonnie Daniels, also a realtor at Vicki Lee Green, nominated Bob Johnson for the award.

“I believe anyone who puts someone else’s needs before their own deserves recognition,” Daniels said. “I think Bob came up with a great idea and it’s nice to see how he’s followed through with it. I’m just really proud of him. There’s a lot of young energy there.”

Bob Johnson’s story, about the creation of Operation Vacation, will air Thursday, Oct. 5 during the station’s 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. newscasts, then again on Saturday, Oct. 7 in the 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. newscasts.
