Organizers still seeking funds for memorial
Staff Report
Donations are still being sought to defray costs associated with Storm King anniversary activities in Glenwood Springs. A little more than $1,000 had been contributed through April 30. A total of $2,000 to $2,500 is needed
The BLM and Forest Service have requested grant money that might cover those expenses. Any excess donations will be placed into the Storm King scholarship fund that was created in 1994. This scholarship is given to members of families of firefighters, with the families of the fallen firefighters given first priority.
Funding also will be used for new brochures at the Storm King trailhead, and for an educational program related to the fire that is being offered by the Frontier Historical Museum.
Donations may be made to the city of Glenwood Springs in care of the Storm King 10th Anniversary. They also may be dropped off at any Alpine Bank or at City Hall. Please indicate Storm King 10th Anniversary in the memo field. Contact Mike Harmon, city finance director, 384-6422, for questions relating to the account.Donations may be made to the city of Glenwood Springs in care of the Storm King 10th Anniversary.
