Ostylee S. Baker

Ostylee S. Baker, 84, passed away Feb. 28, 2005, in Grand Junction. She was peacefully laid to rest on March 10, at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.Ostylee was born March 10, 1920, to John and Mary Alice Snyder, in Bonne Terre, Mo. She married William F. Baker on Nov. 6, 1937, in Missouri. They moved to Montrose, Colo., in 1951, and in the early 1970s, they moved to Glenwood Springs.William passed away in 1991. In 1998, Ostylee moved to Clifton with her three sons, with whom she lived until the time of her death.Ostylee was a faithful St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies baseball fan. She spent many years gardening and growing beautiful flowers.Ostylee is survived by her three sons, William E. Baker, Robert L. Baker, and Gary E. Baker, all of Clifton; a brother, Jess Snyder of Redlands, Calif.; sisters Joyce Nance, of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Wanda (Stan) Wieman, of Santa Maria, Calif.; sister-in-law Betty (Frank) Bissing, of Mesa, Ariz.; brother-in-law Bruce Dukes of Gwinn, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.Ostylee was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William; and her sister, Winona Mayo.She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
